Woodturners of the Hunter - A proud record in Community Projects
The Woodturners of the Hunter have been instrumental in raising in excess of $530,000.00 for the purchase of specialized equipment for the John Hunter Children’s Hospital. This incredible amount has been raised over 12 years as a result of our annual Woodworking and Hobbies Expos and raffles.
Other initiatives to serve the Less Fortunate members of the Community include:
Hand turning 1830 wooden bowls that were then filled with confectionary, gift wrapped and presented to residents of Aged Care Facilities in the Hunter Region.
Hand crafted 250 timber ‘play dough’ rolling pins for the Occupational Therapy Department of the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
Making a large number of wooden toys that were distributed to underprivileged children by various charity groups.
Supporting Technical Aids for the Disabled (TAD) by developing and manufacturing aids for holding pens/pencils etc for use by people with hand function disabilities.
Development and production of book holding aids for residents of Aged Care Facilities.
